Research Use Only
TB-500 10mg is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide, Ac-LKKTETQ, supplied in one pre-filled research pen. It matches residues 17 to 23 of thymosin beta-4, the stretch of that protein that binds actin, which makes it a common tool in cell-migration research. Every TB-500 pen is prepared to order in the UK and shipped cold chain by tracked delivery.
Thymosin beta-4 itself is a natural 43-amino-acid protein of about 4,963 g/mol, and much of the published research used the full protein, so each study below names the compound it tested. To see how it compares with the peptide it is most often paired with, read BPC-157 vs TB-500.
How TB-500 is studied
The LKKTETQ motif is the part of thymosin beta-4 that binds monomeric (G-) actin, which controls how much actin is available to build filaments and so how cells change shape and move. In endothelial cell migration assays, the motif and the full protein showed near-identical activity (Philp et al., 2003). Animal studies, mostly of full-length thymosin beta-4, have examined dermal wound models in rodents, mouse heart models where the protein activated integrin-linked kinase, and hair-follicle stem-cell models.
5 key research areas
- Actin dynamics and cell migration. The LKKTETQ motif binds G-actin, and cell studies have used the motif and full thymosin beta-4 to examine cell shape and endothelial cell migration.
- Angiogenesis and neovascularisation. Mouse studies of full-length thymosin beta-4 examined its role in the mobilisation of epicardial progenitor cells and the growth of new coronary vessels.
- Cardiac cell models. In mice, full-length thymosin beta-4 activated integrin-linked kinase and was studied for its effect on cardiomyocyte migration and survival after coronary ligation.
- Dermal wound models. Rat and mouse studies, including diabetic and aged mice, tested full-length thymosin beta-4 and a peptide containing its actin-binding domain in wound-closure models.
- Hair-follicle stem cells. Rodent work studied full-length thymosin beta-4 in the activation and migration of hair-follicle stem cells.

What is TB-500?
TB-500 is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide, Ac-LKKTETQ, copied from the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4. It is studied in cell and animal models of cell migration, and much of the related literature used the full protein. Apexion supplies it for laboratory research only.
Is TB-500 the same as thymosin beta-4?
No. Thymosin beta-4 is a natural 43-amino-acid protein of about 4,963 g/mol. TB-500 is a synthetic fragment of it, Ac-LKKTETQ, at about 889 g/mol. The formula and molecular weight on this page are those of the fragment, and the mass result on the batch COA confirms which molecule a pen holds.
What is the difference between TB-500 and BPC-157?
TB-500 is a seven-amino-acid fragment of thymosin beta-4 that binds actin and is studied in cell-migration models. BPC-157 is a 15-amino-acid peptide studied mainly for VEGFR2 signalling and tendon fibroblast behaviour. We supply both separately and together as the BPC-157 + TB-500 Wolverine blend.
Is TB-500 independently tested?
Every TB-500 pen is made fresh after your order is placed, so each one is prepared and quality checked to order rather than taken from old stock. Independent third-party testing of TB-500 is under way, and the batch Certificate of Analysis will be published as soon as the results are verified. Each pen carries a batch number, so its documentation can be traced.
Can TB-500 be used in humans or animals?
No. TB-500 is not a medicine and is not licensed by the MHRA. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research, and is not for human or veterinary use, diagnosis or treatment.
How should TB-500 be stored?
TB-500 is shipped cold chain. On arrival, keep the pen sealed and store it at −20 °C for long-term storage, away from heat and direct light. Handle it as little as possible and follow any batch-specific guidance supplied with your order.
