Research Use Only
GLP3-RTA 40mg is a synthetic single-chain peptide that acts as an agonist at three receptors: GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon. It is supplied in one pre-filled research pen. Every GLP3-RTA pen is prepared to order in the UK and shipped cold chain by tracked delivery.
Because it engages three receptors at once, GLP3-RTA is used to study how incretin and glucagon signalling interact in metabolic models. It is also available as GLP3-RTA 20mg, and our research compound guide covers related metabolic peptides such as cagrilintide.
How GLP3-RTA is studied
GLP3-RTA is a 39-amino-acid peptide carrying a fatty diacid side chain, which binds albumin and extends its half-life. In cell assays it activated the human GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors; it was more potent than native GIP at the GIP receptor and less potent than the native hormones at the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. In mice fed a high-fat diet it was studied for its effects on food intake, energy expenditure and body weight, and the glucagon-receptor component was linked to higher energy expenditure.
5 key research areas
- Triple receptor pharmacology. Cell-based assays measured its activity at the human GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors.
- Glucose and insulin signalling. It has been examined for effects on insulin secretion and glucose handling in rodent models and early clinical pharmacology studies.
- Energy expenditure. Mouse studies linked its glucagon-receptor activity to increased energy expenditure.
- Food intake and body weight in rodent models. Mice fed a high-fat diet were used to examine food intake and changes in body weight.
- Pharmacokinetics. Fatty-acid acylation and albumin binding were examined as the basis for its long half-life.

What is GLP3-RTA?
GLP3-RTA is a synthetic peptide that acts on three receptors: GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon. It has been studied in cell assays, rodent metabolic models and clinical pharmacology research. Apexion supplies it for laboratory research only.
What is the difference between GLP3-RTA 20mg and 40mg?
Both pens contain the same compound. The 20mg pen holds 20 mg and the 40mg pen holds 40 mg; preparation, packaging and documentation are the same for both.
How does GLP3-RTA differ from cagrilintide?
GLP3-RTA acts on the GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. Cagrilintide is a long-acting amylin analogue that acts on amylin and calcitonin receptors. They are used to study different signalling pathways, and both are supplied for research use only.
Is GLP3-RTA independently tested?
Every GLP3-RTA pen is made fresh after your order is placed, so each one is prepared and quality checked to order rather than taken from old stock. Independent third-party testing of GLP3-RTA is under way, and the batch Certificate of Analysis will be published as soon as the results are verified. Each pen carries a batch number, so its documentation can be traced.
Can GLP3-RTA be used in humans or animals?
No. GLP3-RTA is not a medicine and is not licensed by the MHRA. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research, and is not for human or veterinary use, diagnosis or treatment.
How should GLP3-RTA be stored?
GLP3-RTA is shipped cold chain. On arrival, keep the pen sealed and store it at −20 °C for long-term storage, away from heat and direct light. Handle it as little as possible and follow any batch-specific guidance supplied with your order.
